A Road Trip To Kuantan - Day 3 Final Day

This morning we try to catch the morning sun and we headed down to the beach to have a look. The sea was really calm with hardly any waves and it was really peaceful. The hotel we stayed in is located by the beach.

Missed the part of the sun coming out of the horizon.

A view of the hotel from the beach side. Anyway after breakfast, we checked out and headed towards Pekan, the Royal Town of Pahang. We just wanted to have a look at the town center and we were not interested in the other attractions. The drive was pleasant along the coast most of the time.

This is the very first time we come to this town and we were surprised to see the town to be much bigger than we expected. There is a couple of automotive assembly plants which I believe is the main economy. With the assembly plants come the supporting industry and the people. Driving further into the town we arrived at the town proper which is quite typical pf the towns here. It was not big just a couple of road and most activity is centered around the market area.

A mixture of Old & New buildings.

After driving around the town once, we decided to explore the town a little on foot.
Wood and brick
All wood

Five Foot Way of brick & wooden shop houses. Five foot Way of  wooden shop houses.

We came across an old coffee shop and it was selling pork balls noodle with "yong tau fu". It Looks good and we decided to have a bite.

The locally brewed coffee was nice too.

The car parking area is nice and best of all no parking charges.

Soon we were on the road again heading for our last stop before going home.
 The road is rather straight

A rare sign of Tapir crossing.

A truck laden with timber heading towards Segamat.

Our next stop is Segamat, a town famous for its durian which I have no idea about until I googled it. There is nothing much itself in Segamat except that there were lots of cafe. We were looking for a bite after the long journey from Pekan and all we could find are cafe and hardly any of the traditional coffee shop.

After having our very late lunch, we walk around town a little and decided to head for home. It was a interesting and enjoyable journey. We got ourselves updated on the going in these remote part of the country.
